Digging the Wells

Many people were getting dreams and visions last year about underground springs and rivers that were opening up and coming together. Sometimes history can give us prophetic insight into things God is saying.

The natives in this area would ritually go out each spring to clean the area around the springs so that the water ran unhindered and clean from contamination. I believe there is a lesson for us here. A spring is an underground river that found a place to surface. The waters are very pure. There are spiritual rivers that are hidden underground as well, and sometimes they surface into our world in the form of revivals.

Often the moves of God (rivers) of the past become forgotten because they are not passed on to the next generation. This doesn’t mean they are lost, but that they are hidden. God is waiting for a people who will value and honor His Spirit. He is looking for a people who will steward the springs and clear the debris from them. Everything God did in the past is available to us today if we will look for it and prepare for it. The way we do this is by honoring the fathers of those rivers, studying what God has done in the past, and praying those things in.

We are in a day when the many rivers of God will come together. God wants to release a full revelation of His Son in these days, in grace, in holiness, in power, and most of all in love. The streams will come together as we have faith to see what God has done in the past and believe for it to happen again. Consider the following verse:

Genesis 26:18 (New King James Version)

¹⁸ And Isaac dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham. He called them by the names which his father had called them.

Isaac called the wells by the same names his father had named them. This is a key because in so doing he was honoring what his father had done. He didn’t try to water down what God did, change it, or hype it up. He honored what God did in his father. The religious spirit (Philistines) has covered many of the rivers of God, but it is time to dig them up again.

So often we reject what God did in the past and look for something new. There is something new coming, but it will come as we embrace and honor what God has done and is doing. Can we embrace the holiness move for what it was? Can we embrace the pentecostal revival for what is was? Can we embrace the healing movement for what it was? Are we ready to receive all of Jesus? Jesus is coming with the fullness of His kingdom and looking for a people who will embrace all of what he has to bring. These are awesome days we live in.
