More than conquerors

Romans 8

¹ There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Romans eight was written to those who walk in the Spirit. This is the destiny of all God’s children, but so often we walk contrary to our destiny and walk in the flesh. Jesus opened the door of the Spirit to us so we could learn to think heavenly thoughts and do heavenly things. The way has been made, now by faith we step into it. God is raising up a people today who know their authority as children of God and walk in it. They know they are kings and queens who walk in authority. They are MORE than conquerors!

¹⁴ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. ¹⁵ For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”

We have received the Spirit of adoption. The Spirit reveals to us that we are now adopted as children of God. We are no longer children of the earth, destined to walk as our parents did. It is time for the people of God to step into their destiny as children of the King of Kings.

¹⁶ The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, ¹⁷ and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Our destiny is to be joint heirs with Christ. God did not invite us in to have pity on us and give us a decent living for a while. We were not invited in as foster children who receive a place to live but no inheritance. We were invited as children who share the inheritance. We are called to share with the glory that Jesus walks in. Imagine that! The Father wants us to share with the glory of Jesus. As we understand this we will begin to walk in it. It is time for the people of God to walk in true revelation of who they are. Those who see it will be more than conquerors, for they will walk as royalty.

Kings and queens know that when they speak a word it will be done. When we walk in this faith we will speak to demons and they will flee. Those who walk in this faith will speak to illness and it will flee. These will not feel a need to apologize for Jesus or for their beliefs. They will go into darkness and set captives free boldly.

¹⁹ For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. ²⁰ For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; ²¹ because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

The fullness of these things will be seen when Jesus appears in the sky and we see Him as He is, but there are those who will walk in this truth today. Some will see Jesus before He returns, as did the apostle Paul, and they will become like Him. They will bring deliverance to creation. This deliverance will touch every part of society: government, education, family, arts, and religion. There will be a great awakening as the people of God begin to see who they really are. When the people of God see who they really are and step into that destiny it affects every aspect of life. Perhaps it is for this reason that all the prayers of the New Testament are focused on the Church.

²⁹ For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. ³⁰ Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

We are called to be conformed to the image of the Son. This means that we are called to look like Jesus. The way that Jesus walked the earth is the model of life for man. The life Jesus lived in love, holiness, and power is the life He calls us to live. The end result is that we will be glorified. Did you know it is God’s desire to glorify you? Ultimately this will happen when Jesus returns, but there is a glory for us to walk in now.

³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? ³² He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

³⁷ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

It is God’s desire to give us all things and make us more than conquerors in Him. If we don’t walk in these things it is not because God has not given them to us, but because we have not stepped into them. As we step into our inheritance as sons and daughters we will walk in authority. Then the things of Heaven will come to earth and the glory of the Son of God will be seen in the earth, through His people. One way we can allow God to transform our mind is by praying in the Spirit.

²⁶ Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

There are two ways to look at this verse. 1) The groans are the heartbeat of God in us as we allow His desires in us. 2) The groans are the prayers of the Spirit in us that come through the gift of tongues. God will change us as we spend time praying in the Spirit. Allow Him to grip your heart with the groans of the Spirit. God will teach you how to walk in the Spirit and you will step into your inheritance as children of God.

I encourage people to pray for an hour a day. I guarantee that if you give yourself to pray one hour a day you will be transformed. Spend the time in worship, intercession, meditation on the word, and praying in the Spirit.
